Lavaflower

I stumbled over the page of the Icelandic designer Gudrun Lilja Gunnlaugsdóttir, and since I have had a hang-up on concrete as a material for quite some time now, I immediately liked her new product Lavaflower. Its not made out of concrete, though the resembles is there, but even better; its made out of solid Icelandic lava! In Icelandic fairytales trolls wanders the mountains during the night, and if the morning sun catches up with them they will turn into stone. I don’t know if this sculpture is a troll, but it has certainly captured the magical and mystical spirit of Iceland!
