I am not a graphic designer but I really do appreciate good illustrations and graphic design. I am no expert, but sometimes I think its almost easier not to be. You can just judge a picture or an illustration based on your immediate response and feelings. And my feeling for the work of Ted Mcgarth is just so good! Not only does he show us his amazing typographies and illustrations on his site, but he actually invites us to take a look at his sketchbook as well.
