The porcelain dream from Wik & Walsøe

Wik & Walsøe is a Norwegian design duo, well worth noticing. The two fashion designers Linda Svedal Walsøe and Ragnhild Wik started working with porcelain in 2006 and have since then showed us a lot of really beautiful designs. Their vision is to make porcelain that will last for generations, cause as they say: “Beauty is visual impressions that brings joy”.

Their products are produced in Bangladesh and contribute to employment, development of skills and gives economic growth in one of the least developed countries in the world.
Not only do I love their design but also their approach to quality, environment and fair trade through their products, this is should really be an inspiration to all designers!

This spring Wik & Walsøe introduced some products of the collection Whitewood, and already the cup has been sold out! The complete collection will be launched in August 2008.

For me personally I have to say that it’s so good to see design like this from Norway. Their porcelain is timeless, light and with a Nordic expression. Its getting appreciated abroad, and this might help the Norwegian Design to be placed on the map.
