Glowing trash art
I have always enjoyed the work of Dan Flavin neon tubes, and now I am happy that I have discovered David Batchelors work too, which is more or less in the same alley. He combines everyday items with a range of light-industrial materials: steel shelving, commercial light boxes, neon tubing, warehouse dollies, acrylics, and plastics. With a composition made of objects like soap dispensers and daily packaging, he transforms what we all consider waste and trash, into a sculpture that glows of colour and beauty.
